Journey Across Delco

Great news! Our annual Journey Across Delco (JAD) begins on June 1st! Each year our 28 spectacular libraries come together to promote learning by highlighting a fun activity and fact related to the Summer Quest theme. This year is no different, as our libraries will each be featuring an animal to promote this year’s Summer Quest theme of Tails and Tales. There are three ways to complete the program for this year.

To complete the JAD program, first download the game sheet here (PDF) and instructions here (PDF) or pick up a copy at any local library.  Fill out your information on the bottom of the sheet and begin your journey by visiting libraries, completing badges in Beanstack, or visiting StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park – or a combination of all three (see below for a description of each)! Once you’ve completed your game sheet and figure out the mystery saying, return it to any local library to be entered into our Journey Across Delco raffle.

Ways to Play:

1. Visiting Libraries: With your game sheet in hand, visit our libraries where you will find a JAD poster highlighting the library’s animal with two fun facts and an activity.  On the back of your game sheet, write the library’s full name on the number line that corresponds to the animal picture on the front of your game sheet. Can’t visit all 28 libraries in person, then try below.

2. Inside The Tails & Tales Reading Challenge: With your game sheet in hand, sign up to participate in our Beanstack Tails & Tales reading challenge.  As part of the challenge you can complete activity badges, one for each library animal (as well as log books, complete reviews and win prizes).  As you complete badges, write the library’s full name on the number line that corresponds to the animal picture on the front of your game sheet (hint: the badge name will include the library as well as the badge description).

3. Visiting Storywalk: With your game sheet in hand, visit the StoryWalk in Rose Tree Park.  Read the story. At each post complete the small activity cards sponsored by each of our libraries.  On the back of your game sheet, write the library’s full name on the number line that corresponds to the animal picture on the front of your game sheet.

The Journey Across Delco game sheets will be accepted at local libraries until August 15th.  Winners of the raffle will be contacted by e-mail and prizes will be sent to their local libraries for pick-up.
