The Delaware County Literacy Council has chosen Delaware County Libraries as their 2019 Community Champion of Adult Literacy. Our libraries work with the Literacy Council by providing space for adult literacy students and their tutors to work, hosting Literacy Council classes, providing online literacy resources and sending a representative to serve on the Literacy Council’s Board of Directors.

Our mission at Delaware County Libraries is to focus on serving the needs of our community, provide a versatile, welcoming, safe space, and to promote life-long learning,” said Delaware County Libraries Director Catherine Bittle. “We are pleased that we can support and partner with impactful organizations such as the Delaware County Literacy Council. We look forward to many more years of changing lives together.”

The Literacy Council is also honoring multi-platinum Grammy® Award winning music producer Jahlil Beats as the 2019 Hometown Hero Champion and Tatiana Moskatova as the 2019 Student Champion.

The Delaware County Literacy Council works with adults who wish to read, write, speak and understand English, helping them to increase their communication skills and to participate more fully in society. The Council uses volunteers to ensure that programs are free and accessible to everyone.
