LIBRARY DIRECTOR

The Yeadon Public Library located in Delaware County, PA is seeking a Managing Library Director. This individual will be responsible directing all functions of a public library, including:

• Supervising, hiring, and managing library staff and volunteers.
• Preparing reports for the library Board, Borough, County Library System and the State
• Attending County and State Library System meetings, as well as workshops and conferences
• Serving as library spokesperson, supervising public relations, marketing activities, and community programming
• Keeping abreast of industry related information
• Coordinates collection development through timely materials selection, regular weeding
• Supervising maintenance of building
• Answering all patrons’ major reference questions unanswered by desk staff and resolving al patron complaints
• Performing other duties as designated by the Board

Qualifications:
• Certification as a PA professional or provisional librarian
• Two years successful supervisory experience as administrator or public library director demonstrating effective and cooperative work with staff/personnel
• Demonstrative positive support/service serving the public
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets, & QuickBooks a plus
• Ability to lift 25 pounds, transport book carts and shelve books in high and low areas

Preferred Qualifications:
• Successful grant writing and fund raising skills
• Coordination of a library building project

Salary is commensurate on experience. This position is full time, 40 hours per week, including time off and benefits.
