Council declares April 7-13 as National Library Week in Delaware County

Delaware County Council was joined by various library representations at the April 4 weekly council meeting to recognize April 7-13 as National Library Week in Delaware County.

National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and communities. This year’s theme for National Library Week is “Libraries = Strong Communities.” Libraries in Delaware County are the heart of their communities offering a wide variety of programs such as storytimes, career workshops, technology classes, STEAM activities, and much more.

“This year’s National Library Week theme, Libraries = Strong Communities, demonstrates the value libraries in Delaware County have to their communities,” said Delaware County Libraries Director Catherine Bittle. “Our libraries are continuously adapting to meet the needs of the communities that they serve. No two libraries in the county are the same, which speaks volumes about the diversity of Delaware County.”

National Library Workers Day (NLWD) is celebrated on Tuesday, April 9 during National Library Week. NLWD is a day for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
