Parenting
Wisely
The
DCLS in cooperation with Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems and
the Delaware County Office of Behavioral Health offers Parenting
Wisely Young Children CD-ROM Kit to patrons.
Libraries
now offer kits for parents of young children as well as parents
of teens!
Parenting
Wisely is a leading parenting program being rated a Model Program
by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and an Exemplary
Program by Family Strengthening, Office of Juvenile Justice
and Delinquency Prevention. The kit offers parents skills that
help in communicating and lowering children’s risk for
problems. Seven typical problem situations are presented including:
misbehaving at the grocery store, interrupting telephone conversations,
problems getting along with friends, how to parent when stepparents
or grandparents also live in the household, school and homework
problems, sibling fighting, and how to get children off to bed
and ready for school on time.
The
kits will be available to all residents with a library card.
Parents can check the kit out from their local library
for use at home. When you take out the Parenting Wisely CD-ROM,
be sure to read the information about free gift certificates.
