Library Quest 2017: Journey Across Delco

Delaware County Councilman Dave White visited storytime at the Haverford Township Free Library on Tuesday, June 13 to announce Library Quest 2017: Journey Across Delco. Councilman White read Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, by Eric Litwin, to the children in attendance after the announcement.

Visit all 26 Delaware County Libraries this summer during Library Quest 2017

Children in Delaware County can pick up a free passport style booklet at their local library and journey across Delco to all 26 member libraries in the county this summer. Library Quest is geared for children in pre-school and early elementary school. Booklets are currently available at all Delaware County Libraries (DCL). At each library, there are activities for the children to complete and then get their passport stamped.

"Council and our Library System worked to create this program to encourage young readers to stay engaged and enthused about reading over their summer break," said Councilman Dave White, council's liaison to the DCL. "Programs such as this encourage literacy and foster a love for reading in our youth."

Library Quest begins on June 19th and ends on July 28th. Participants who visit at least five libraries during that time will be invited to a party in Rose Tree Park on August 3rd from 1-3pm. If participants visit all of the libraries in Delaware County, they will be recognized at a Delaware County Council meeting at a later date.

“Delaware County Libraries are excited to be partnering with County Council for the Library Quest initiative. Not only does Library Quest provide children with fun activities during the summer break, it encourages them to explore our 26 member libraries and see what they have to offer,” said DCL director Catherine Bittle. “We hope that by participating in Library Quest and visiting our many libraries, Delaware County residents will discover all of the wonderful free services available to them with their library card.”
