The Municipal Branch of the Upper Darby Township & Sellers Memorial Free Library has been awarded a grant by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council to host Teen Reading Lounge. Teen Reading Lounge is an interactive book club for ages 12-18 where teens come together to explore contemporary issues through book discussions and civic engagement projects while developing social emotional learning skills. The grant will cover program expenses and an outside facilitator to help develop and run the program.
“Words cannot express how excited we are to have been selected for Teen Reading Lounge,” said Jean Kosha, program coordinator at the Municipal Branch. “We are all looking forward to this youth driven initiative where teens are driving the bus and making decisions about what social justice topics we explore, the literature we’ll read, and the activities we’ll do to deepen our understanding of our world.”
The program will kick off on Thursday, October 24th from 3:30-5:00.
